“The Pursuit of Justice” and DDC
Recently, The Columbus Dispatch ran a series of articles entitled “Test of Convictions.” This series culminates its yearlong investigation into Ohio’s criminal justice system—specifically, the cases of 313 inmates, parolees, and their families who have sought post-conviction DNA testing.
The articles found flaws in Ohio’s criminal justice system that have prevented many of these inmates from going forward with their DNA cases. Together with The Ohio Innocence Project led by University of Cincinnati College of Law Professor Mark Godsey, The Dispatch investigative team interviewed inmates, researched their cases, and identified 30 cases that they considered prime candidates for cases that could be exonerated with DNA testing.
DDC has partnered with The Ohio Innocence Project to provide the DNA testing for these cases. Read more about it in the final article in the series released last week titled “The Pursuit of Justice.”
